1. Purge Your Closet

If you have not worn or thought of wearing an item of clothing in your closet in over 6 months, then you probably don’t need it. Get rid of all damaged and outdated clothing you own. Also, get rid of any items that no longer fit.

Set aside 3 to 4 piles of clothing:

  • To keep
  • Damaged; To throw away
  • Outdated / or no longer using; To donate
  • Outdated / or no longer using; To sell

You’d be amazed to see the amount of unused items that were just sitting there, taking up space in your closet. The amount of extra space that clears up will surprise you.

Repeat this process every 6 months.

2.Create a capsule wardrobe

You can’t go wrong here! Build your capsule wardrobe with basics in neutral tones. These essentials are pieces that will never go out of style and can be worn all year round. The neutral tones allows to mix and match with any pieces.

Once you’ve build your capsule wardrobe, you can then gradually add other pieces.

A good pair of jeans with an oversized t-shirt or oversized blouse will never go out of style.

3. Create A Self Maintenance Schedule and Stick to it

Make a schedule of everything that you need to do, to always look put together. Here are examples of what you may include in your routine :

  • Hair care ( wash, treat, comb,)
  • waxing ( including eyebrows maintenance)
  • manicure and pedicure
  • skincare

Once these 4 categories are maintained, you’ll always look your best.
Then categorize them by how often they would need to get done, ( daily, weekly, bi-monthly, monthly)

4. Try Waking Up Earlier

First, estimate the amount of time that you will need to get ready each day. This will allow you to know what time you should be getting up, so there’s no or less rush. This will also allow you some time to get your thoughts together, meditate or exercise. When you feel better internally, it shows externally.

5. Makeup

For everyday wear, try wearing little to no makeup. While the key here is to Always look put together, you also want to be able to differentiate your everyday look from your “going out” or “special occasion” look.

  • If you choose to go makeupless, then insure that your brows are properly groomed and your skincare routine is on point.
  • If wearing makeup is your choice, then try the “No makeup” makeup look. Barely there, but noticeable makeup with neutral colors is the way to go. Glam up your makeup look and add brighter tones or bolder eyes makeup and contour for special occasions.

The right makeup will always enhance your look.

6. Hair

This step is very important. There isn’t a “one hairstyle “ recommendation, because everyone’s hair texture, length, color and hair density is different. Find that one or two simple, easy and fast “ go to hairstyles” that work perfect with your hair. Go minimal, practicality is key. Refer to your maintenance schedule to insure that your hair is always well managed and taking cared of. You can also wrap your hair with a head wrap. When properly done, this can look very chic. Adding pieces like headbands, hair jewelry, scrunchies and pins can turn your basic hairstyle into a not so basic hairstyle in seconds.

7. Accessories

Adding the right accessories can take a basic tee and jeans outfit to a whole other level. A classy watch or even a basic necklace will instantly elevate your look. Start off with neutral colors. Try adding a trendy belt to a dress, or a set of bracelets to your wrist. A staple bag or sunglasses……These will give you a very polished look.

8. Scent ( perfume)

Your scent can either draw people closer to you, away from you or simply have them not notice you. Try taking a spin at the perfume counter to try out different scents and see which ones you like.

9. Undergarments

The right undergarments, although unseen, can either make or break your outfit. Try wearing seamless underwear to avoid any unwanted lines. Always choose the right fitting bra. Not too big, not too small. Once the sizing is right, you also will feel more at ease. Also, shapewear can come in handy to smooth of your figure.

10. Build Your Confidence

You can dress the part, but if you lack confidence, it will eventually show. You are beautiful, believe in yourself and others will to. Also note that just because something looks good on someone, doesn’t mean that it will look the same on you. We all have different body shapes. And likewise, something that looks good on you, might not look good on someone else. Be you, determine your own style.
